Ready to launch your business in Yuba County and win up to $10,000 in start-up funding?

Yes to Start Ups is a free, online training series that offers fundamental business education, resources, and technical assistance to entrepreneurs looking to start a business in Yuba County.

You’ll get step-by-step instruction on creating a business plan and a pitch deck, and participate in a two-part pitch competition for the chance to win up to $10,000.

Legal business entities must be registered or plan to register within Yuba County!

Here’s what you’ll learn in 6 weeks:

Session 1: Starting Your Business Plan

Explain how your business solves a problem in your target market. Describe your mission and values. Develop your company profile.

Session 3: Market Research & Analysis

Describe the trends of the market you hope to enter. Outline your business model. Determine your competition and your unique strengths in the market.

Session 5: Budgeting & Projections

Determine your budget for starting your business and create financial projections for 24 months in the future and 5 years in the future.

Session 2: Defining Your Products/Services

Create detailed description of what your business will offer. Describe how your offerings are unique. Define your leadership team and their strengths.

Session 4: Financial Statements

An introduction to essential financial statements for business management. Profit & loss statements, cash flow analysis, balance sheets and more.

Session 6: How to Pitch to Funders

Learn best practices to pitching to investors and requesting funding, including how to demonstrate Return on Investment.

Tell me about the pitch competition.

At the end of the program, participants will be invited to compete in a two-part pitch competition.

Round 1 of the competition is open to everyone who completes the educational portion of the program.

You’ll pitch your business plan and concept to a local panel of professionals: business advisors, mission-based lenders, and more.

You’ll receive one-on-one advising for your pitch, and if you’re not chosen to move on to Round 2, you’ll receive $1,000.

10 entrepreneurs will be invited to Round 2. Awards will be distributed as follows:

First Place: $10,000

Second Place: $7,500

Third Place: $5,000

The remaining Round 2 participants will receive $2,500 to acknowledge their success.
