Mitchell IT Consulting Wins Two Competitive Contracts with Advising from Sacramento Valley SBDC

For Angela Mitchell, ideas for solutions come easy. With her business Mitchell IT Consulting, Angela optimizes technological initiatives and solutions for government entities through comprehensive project management—but before she could begin providing those solutions through contracts, Angela sought assistance to bring her ideas to life.

THE CHALLENGE

When the idea of entrepreneurship first came to Angela, she was hoping to start a business that reflected her years of working with government agencies. She quickly realized that to gain the clients she envisioned, she would need a solid business plan, and more foundational knowledge of what it takes to successfully bid on contracts.

THE GAMEPLAN

To put her plans into action, Angela worked with Sacramento Valley SBDC business advisor, Brandon Beverly. Over a series of advising sessions, Brandon helped Angela write a comprehensive business plan, determine her start-up costs and write financial projections, and create a capabilities statement that illustrates the core competencies of her business.

THE RESULT

As a result of Angela’s advising sessions, Mitchell IT Consulting has been awarded two contracts, which took their sales from $0 to $125,000 in less than a year. Alongside her own hard work, Angela credits the access to support and information from Sacramento Valley SBDC for her success. “Brandon has been a great advisor,” she says. “He has walked me through issues with ease, and the initial start-up of my business would not have been possible without advising.”
